DESCRIPTION: EPW - Albert H. Potter & Co, Geneva, lever chronometer, low serial #50, 51mm, heavy 18K gold Blauer HC with initials to front, monogram 1888 date to rear, initials and "No. 50" engraved inside both front and rear, glazed observation cover over mvt, bow with chain guards, white enamel SS dial, SW-SS, fully capped lever escapement, 20-21J, fausses-cĂ´tes pattern nickel damascene, s#50 with matching number engraved within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 90.1 dwt (140.1 g). Albert H. Potter, renowned for the superb finish of his watches, was born in New York in 1836 though the majority of his watchmaking activity took place after his emigration to Switzerland in about 1875.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, somewhat challenging to set as setting function occasionally disengages, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous plates with scattered fine and micro-fine scratches, small discolored spot to dial plate at perimeter near balance wheel; dial with small hl above seconds-register, hl from center toward left side of signature, micro-fine scratch above center; nearly mint hands; case front lift spring needs assistance to fully open lid and allows opened lid to tilt a bit toward closed with gravity, case shows light wear, mild dent to band at 12, reduced engine turning detail with full loss through shoulders, reduced engraving detail, case front opens a bit less than 90 degrees (to approximately 80 degrees); tight bow is slightly thinned at top, crown shows light wear; good glass crystals.
